Social Work and Social Services Division - CPCS

Social Work and Social Services

Our Mission

We are human services professionals bringing education and experience from a range of social service fields who can be hired by court-appointed defense attorneys representing indigent clients across CPCS. We are expected to have a commitment to due process and client-centered representation.

In our roles, we provide strategic, litigation-focused, non-direct services to public and private defense attorneys under the Indigent Court Cost Act (ICCA). Whether an individual is a child, youth, or an adult, our work can improve a client’s chances of successful litigation.

Hire a Social Work or Social Services Vendor

Attorneys representing indigent clients may hire a social worker or social services professional. Before a vendor can be hired, a motion for funds must be filed and approved by the court.

If the professional is not a CPCS-approved vendor, they’ll need to complete the application and billing approval process before payment can be issued. Vendors should not begin work until a motion for funds has been approved. Find these required forms in our Resource Center.

Need help finding a vendor? Use the directory to contact the designated social work coordinator for your division or reach out to the forensics department.

Become a CPCS Social Services Vendor

CPCS contracts with experts in social services, forensics, healthcare, and more. To receive payment for your work on a case, you must apply and be approved as a CPCS vendor. This includes professionals already approved to work with other state agencies.

Before applying, review the Court Cost Vendor Manual for more information about needed qualifications, rates, and the application process. Access the portal to begin your application.
