About CPCS

Our Mission

The Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS) is the state agency in Massachusetts responsible for providing legal representation to individuals who cannot afford an attorney in criminal and civil cases where the law requires counsel.

CPCS upholds clients’ right to a strong defense through court-appointed public defenders, private counsel, and experts in forensics and social services. Many of our attorneys serve specific populations, such as youth or individuals with mental health concerns.

We are dedicated to building a strong professional relationship with each of our clients, understanding their diverse circumstances, and meeting their needs.
